Glebe Boats and Esplanade Boats
The Flowerboats at the Glebe Corner and on the Esplanade are provided and maintained by the Town Council. They were put in place during the Millennium Year and the boats themselves donated by local residents. The anchors - which had mostly been dredged up off the Barrow Deep - were also donated - by our local fishermen. At the moment the Glebe Boats are in flower with geraniums and I would like once again to thank Mr and Mrs Moffat for taking regular care of these boats on our behalf
The Esplanade boats are part planted partly with drought resistant plants mixed with occasional pansies in winter and geraniums in summer. Unfortunately, despite the mild winter, some of the drought resistant plants have died off and may need replacing. Shortage of time has prevented me from weeding the Esplanade boats this year as often as I would like. Would anyone who lives nearby care to offer to help weed me to weed these boats on a regular basis? If so, please contact me, Cllr Sylvia Wargent on 384285
